This theme is based on Modicus by Upstart Blogger, unlike Modicus this theme has only 2 columns, which jives well with what the minimal tone of this theme. The theme has well defined and functional content and sidebar sections, and since the theme already addresses the styling of the typography it can be used as is. The theme has options to set up live archives, instructions for which are available on the author’s site. This well laid out structure is perfect as a starting theme for your design project, or if you dig minimalism, this is the theme for you. Check it out.

Livegreen is a simple yet well structured design by Makequick! The theme has a 2-column layout with a widget ready right sidebar. The theme has a very attractive header but can easily be replaced with header images of your own. There is ample space for your content and the sidebar has enough room for your widgets. The post headings jutting out to the left of the content area is eye-catching and adds a new dimension to the theme. The rest of the theme is neatly designed with round edges and subtle colored images. The brown and green combination gives this theme a very earthy, eco-friendly look and feel. Check it out.

Dilectio by Design Disease is the latest work by Elena. This work, as with all others work by this great artist is simple fabulous. This 3 column layout is packed with all the cool tricks and features you need. The first thing that captures your attention are the really suave date buttons in the content. Though the content area looks relatively small, it is sufficiently large for videos and images. The sidebar includes a very attractive vector as a background for the search form and about text. The sidebar also has a tabbed recent post/comments Java widget that dynamically serves you the latest posts and comments. The third column has ample space for all your miscellaneous widgets and ads. Overall, this design has the layout and functionality to be a great starter or anytime theme. Highly recommended!
Note: There is an Google ad in the theme with the original publishers info, change it before you use or delete the ad.

Rainbow Feather is a cool and creative theme by Julian Klewes a.k.a Jez. This latest version of the theme is a real treat and multi-browser compatible. The theme is sectioned into 3 color zones, the top being the featured or the newest post, the middle for the regular posts or full posts and the bottom for sidebar widgets/footer. The one part that could be altered is the repetition of the featured/newest posts while displaying single posts, pages, or archives, which might look like content duplication. If that bothers you, the simplest work around would be to remove the repeating conditional query (top1 div) in single.php, page.php, archive.php and search.php (the “feather” image will get cut out though). Overall, a visually appealing theme.
